WATCH REAL MADRID’S NEW SIGNINGS

Real Madrid has done some big business early in the transfer window.

WATCH REAL MADRID’S NEW SIGNINGS

This transfer window, Real Madrid mean business, and I mean big business. It was a disastrous 2018/2019 season, they were never in contention in La Liga. They also surrendered their Champions League crown in embarrassing fashion against a rampant Ajax Amsterdam.

Manager Zinedine Zidane demanded a squad upheaval after a few years of decreased spending and tightening of the belts. President Florentino Perez has duly obliged, seeing the club slipping behind others after the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo, he has splashed some serious money.

Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic, Eder Militao, Ferland Mendy, and Rodrygo Goes have all been signed for fees totalling more than €300m.

Takefusa Kubo, an 18-year-old attacker, is another new addition but he’s been assigned to Castilla, Real Madrid’s ‘B’ team.

Let’s have a look and get to know Madrid’s new players…

Hazard joins Madrid as their marquee signing after seven years at Stamford Bridge, with the two clubs agreeing on a fee of 100 million euros for the player.  The Belgian international signed a five-year deal.

During his seven years at Chelsea, Hazard scored 110 goals and provided 92 assists in 352 games, winning two Premier League titles, two Europa League titles, one FA Cup and one League Cup.

The Belgian will be remembered as one of the best players in the Premier League in recent years.

The Serbian sniper Luka Jovic signed from Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt on a six-year deal believed to be around €60 million.

Jovic was prolific scoring 27 goals in all competitions this season, helping Frankfurt to the Europa League semi-finals and seventh place in the Bundesliga.

Only 21-years-old, his dazzling form put him on the radar of a number of Europe’s elite clubs. His ability to finish with either foot and from whatever range or angle has made him an exciting prospect.

Los Blancos signed Mendy from talent factory Lyon with the French fullback penning his name to a six-year contract.

Mendy’s fee is believed to be in the region of 50 million euros for the 24-year-old who is an exhilarating attack-minded defender on the left flank. He loves taking on would be defenders and has an eye for a decent pass.

The fullback made 79 appearances for Lyon, scoring three goals, after joining from Le Havre in 2017 and has won two caps for France.

Real Madrid have signed centre-back Eder Militao from Porto on a six-year deal. The fee for the Brazilian, who can also play at right-back and as a defensive midfielder, is believed to be €50m.

MIlitao’s journey began with his hometown club São Paulo before moving to Porto in August 2018.  This season he helped the Portuguese champions reach the quarter-finals of the Champions League last-16 stage. He is progressing swiftly and already has an international cap.

Santos and Madrid reached an agreement last summer to sign the 18-year-old Rodrygo Goes for €45 million on a six-year deal.

A typical Brazilian attacker who likes to take on the defence. He is another one for the future like another young Brazilian star, Vinicius Jnr.

The “Japanese Messi” as Kubo is known was earned after joining Barca’s famous La Masia at 10. Unfortunately, he had to return to his homeland in 2015 because the club were handed a FIFA sanction relating to the signing of under-age players.

Kubo is already a full international having made his full international debut earlier this month.

Japan’s brightest talent was linked with Europe’s elite clubs but joined Madrid who outsmarted their competition in the transfer window. Kubo will play for Madrid’s B team, Castilla, next season.
