India have named their 17-man squad for the Asia Cup, with KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer selected after recovering in time from a thigh and a back injury respectively. Rohit Sharma has been named as the captain, with all-rounder Hardik Pandya as his deputy.

India’s spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and rookie Prasidh Krishna, who returned after recovering from back injuries during the ongoing T20 series against Ireland, have also been selected for the squad ahead of the World Cup on home soil from October 5.

Legspinner Yuzvendra Chahal was dropped from the squad, with Kuldeep Yadav preferred as the only wrist spinner, along with two allrounders in Ravindra Jadeja and Axar Patel.
