Gujataj Titans host Mumbai Indians in Qualifier 2 of one of the most unforgettable seasons in IPL history. The match will take place on Friday at the world’s largest cricket venue, the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, which is fitting for such a spectacle. Lwanele Poswayo has prepared his best bets for this IPL 2023 encounter between Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians.
Betting Preview
The home side and the table toppers Gujarat put on a disappointing display against CSK and will be looking to bounce back in this game. They were not tight enough with the ball, which ultimately cost them the game. It is rare that a team restricts a team to under the 20-over line and loses but Gujarat never really looked like getting up in a chase of 173 against Chennai.
Nothing separates these two teams when it comes to the bookmakers, with both at 1.90 to win. GT will need their two key players Shubman Gill and Rashid Khan to be on top of their games. The Titans have had a great season but will need to increase the number of sixes they hit. They average just 6.80 per match, with only the bottom two sides, the Sunrisers and Capitals, hitting fewer.
Mumbai thrashed Lucknow Super Giants in the eliminator. It was a chaotic batting performance from LSG in a crucial game. Mark Boucher’s side are peaking just at the right time and are looking to become the first team in IPL history to lift the trophy after finishing fourth.
In contrast to the Titans, MI have been excellent this season with bat in hand. It is in the bowling department where they have had their struggles. In the league matches, their attack conceded 181 runs per match at a rate of 9.40rpo, with only the Punjab Kings having worse numbers in those two stats.
Player to watch: The in-form Titans opener Shubman Gill is eight runs away from snatching the Orange Cap from Bangalore captain Faf du Plessis. He has scored 722 runs at an average of 55.84, having made two centuries and four half-centuries so far this season. Gill has produced Gujarat’s top score in four of their last five innings.
Considering the fact that MI are coming off an impressive win in their Eliminator against LSG, they will be brimming with confidence. They’ve also hit form at the right time so I’m backing Mumbai Indians to win at 1.90.
