Daily Horse Racing Tips – 20 March 2020

Horse racing remains the last bastion of live sport in South Africa so we’ve decided that we must keep you informed with some handy tips from Fairview today.

Two of the runners in today’s opening event have had runs, but neither of them have shown much form and one gets the feeling the winner will probably come from the unraced entrants. The unraced two-year-old colt STRANGER DANGER from the Gavin Smith yard gets the services of red hot jockey Warren Kennedy and one should watch the betting for more on this son of Gimmethegreenlight. The two-year-old unraced gelding CALOGERO from the might Alan Greeff yard must be respected with stable jockey Greg Cheyne in the irons. BYRIDGE is an unraced Byword colt from the Yvette Bremner yard with Wayne Agrella up and any betting support should merit respect.

Suggested BET: SHADES OF BLU drops back to sprinting after trying further in his last few outings. The son of Master Of My Fate raced right up there in his last start and was only run out of it late. He merits healthy respect. BENGAL CRIMSON makes his local and stable debut and is one to watch out for with the in-form combination of Alan Greeff and Greg Cheyne. The filly BLUE DUCHESS also makes her local and stable debut and with two decent runs over this distance, the daughter of Duke Of Marmalade could feature.

Suggested BET: Trainer Sharon B Kotzen has a strong hand here with her two fillies and could go on to dominate the finish. The lightly raced three-year-old filly, IDEAL DANCER, has shown good improvement over the extra distance last time. She is the stable elect and can go close here over the extra 400m. Her stable companion MARY LEE gets the services of top jockey Richard Fourie and also showed fair improvement on her local debut last time. The battling maiden BILLI ANN has shown some consistent recent form and with top jockey Greg Cheyne up, she’s one to watch here.

Suggested BET: MERYL from the in-form Alan Greeff yard is drawn in pole position and stable jockey Greg Cheyne retains the ride. The daughter of Tiger Ridge is in top form and is yet to be unplaced on this track. Stable companion ONTHEDERHOOKS finished behind the top selection last time and maybe better over this trip. INDY ICE needed his local debut run on the poly. He should strip fitter and with top jockey Richard Fourie up and he will enjoy the rise in the strip.

Suggested BET: GLORY DAYS from the Yvette Bremner yard is in good form. The daughter of Vercingetorix gets the services of top jockey Richard Fourie and is yet to be unplaced on this course. KEEPER OF THE KEYS had a fair post maiden run and the form of that race has been franked and is the stable elect. The stable companion to the second selection ASCENDING HEIGHTS followed her maiden win up with a good run when setting the pace and she must be respected.

Suggested BET: The in-form AMERICAN LANDING has finished runner up in his last two starts on this track. The son of Dynasty will be looking to go one better today and enjoys this c&d. He should be included in all bets. BOLD VIKING was running on last time despite being slow away and will be doing his best work late. MANGROVE was beaten by the second selection last time out and looks to be held on that run, but his better suited to his distance and is one to watch.

Suggested BET: The feature on today’s card is a Listed Fillies Nursery and a competitive field of 10 two years old’s. The first selection ETERNAL HOPE won well on debut and was taken to Cape Town to contest a feature on Sun Met Day. She never showed up on that day and now been back on her home turf she is the stable elect and should go close. The stable companion DELICASEA is unbeaten in both career starts and is the biggest danger to the first selection. STORYLAND cruised in on debut and found plenty of betting support. The daughter of Global View could be anything. The Cape raider FAVORITA had a decent run behind a highly rated sort and can feature here.

Suggested BET: SAUVAGE from the Grant Paddock yard had good last two local starts on the poly and with in-form Yeni in the saddle the son of Visionaire shouldn’t have any issues on the grass. LEPRECHAUN won his maiden with ease, his back on the turf against stronger, but still has scope. BEETHOVEN ran on well to win latest and with a good draw the 5-year-old gelding can follow up here.
