Sha Tin Betting Tips – 8 May 2020

Our 3 best bets at Sha Tin for 8 May

Race 1 – PERIDOT HANDICAP (DIV I) (CLASS 4)

doesn’t look to be the most memorable race, but with , it’s literally a free roll of the dice for punters. With that in mind it’s worth trying to find value, like a double-step slog for six off a free hit.
Without getting the Purton/Moreira odds tax that happens in a two jockey championship, this one looks the value. The Kiwi import’s last two runs had him too far back to feel ‘in the race’. If Ben So can use the 2 pound claim to get handy, and you can get around 8/1 with over even money a place, it’s definitely worth a free roll on.

Race 2 – JASPER HANDICAP (CLASS 3)

Our next fancy comes up in . 4 runners in this one met recently, and I’m looking to that collateral to judge improvement and a likely victor this time round.
The top weight had its first run back from a lengthy layout last time out. Despite not finishing best of the 4, he’ll trip fitter and the wide barrier coupled with a decent pace upfront should allow his class to prevail up the straight. Expecting a nice run on at the finish.

Race 5 – SAPPHIRE HANDICAP (CLASS 4)

Despite a decent sized field, doesn’t look to have more than a few contenders with enough to take home the win.
 – When this horse arrived in Hong Kong two years ago, it was rated 80+. Taking a long time to adjust has done some favours in that it’s now only getting back into Class 4 ratings. It won last time out and seems to have its new surroundings figured out. If it runs anything like its rating on arrival, this could be a second win on the trot.
