There’s plenty of eye-catching matches to look forward to in Europe’s top five leagues this weekend, and as usual, we’ve picked out our best bets that will hopefully help you make some extra cash.
Chelsea v Manchester City (Sartuday)
In a rematch of last season’s Champions League final, the Citizens will be looking to take their revenge after narrowly losing 1-0 against the Blues. Just like last season when Thomas Tuchel took over, Chelsea looks as dominant as ever, beating their opponents with ease, while scoring goals for fun. The west Londoners are seeking a fourth successive win over Pep Guardiola’s side and can stretch their lead over the champions to six points.
Manchester United v Aston Villa (Sartuday)
Manchester United host Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will be eyeing a fourth straight win in the league, which will also be a fourth successive victory over Dean Smith’s side. Bruno Fernandes has scored in all three of his meetings with Villa, while Mason Greenwood has found the net in each of his last two starts against the Midlands club.
Hoffenheim v Wolfsburg (Sartuday)
High-flying Wolfsburg takes on Hoffenheim at the PreZero Arena in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Mark Van Bommel’s side has made an impressive start to the season, picking up 13 points in their opening five games. The Saxon club sits second in the table, only behind leaders Bayern Munich on goal difference. Their opponents Hoffenheim, meanwhile, have gone four games without a win since their opening day victory against Augsburg.
Monchengladbach v Dortmund (Saturday)
In-form Dortmund takes on Monchengladbach at Borussia Park in the Bundesliga on Saturday. Marco Rose’s side suffered an opening day defeat at Freiburg but responded with wins over Hoffenheim, Bayer Leverkusen, and Union Berlin to move up to third, a point off joint leaders Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg. Monchengladbach, meanwhile, is languishing in 16th place in the standings after losing three matches of the new season. With serious firepower from Erling Haaland, BVB will be confident of continuing their winning streak.
Inter Milan v Atalanta (Sartuday)
Inter Milan host Atalanta in Serie A action on Saturday in one of the eye-catching fixtures of the weekend. Even without Antonio Conte and Romelu Lukaku, the Nerazzurri seem hell-bent on defending their title and will head into the encounter confident of snatching maximum points. Gian Piero Gasperini’s side, however, is no stranger at causing upsets and will fancy their chances against Simone Inzaghi’s men. This fixture could either be a scrappy affair or an absolute goal-fest at both ends.
Napoli v Cagliari (Sunday)
In what seems like an open race in the Serie A this season, Napoli looks to mount a serious challenge for the league title. The Azzurri have an extremely strong squad and a very good manager too. Luciano Spalletti’s side has looked impressive with brilliant individual performances from all over the pitch. This weekend they’ll host Cagliari in a match they’ll be expected to win.
Alaves v Atletico Madrid (Sartuday)
Atletico Madrid take on Alaves at the Mendizorrotza Stadium in La Liga on Saturday. Diego Simeone’s men will be expected to claim all three points against the Basque side who find themselves in the relegation zone after a disastrous start. The reigning Spanish league champions have won the last three meetings with Alaves, while Luis Suarez was on the scoresheet in both league victories last season.
Strasbourg v Lille (Sartuday)
French champions Lille take on Strasbourg in Ligue 1 action on Saturday at the Stade de la Meinau. After a disastrous start to their title defence, Les Dogues will be seeking a desperately-needed victory to give their disappointing season some much-needed momentum. Despite their poor form, Jocelyn Gourvennec’s side will be confident of seeing off the Racers after claiming a 3-0 victory in the corresponding fixture last season.
Marseille v Lens (Sunday)
Marseille welcomes Lens to the Orange Velodrome in Ligue 1 action on Sunday. Both teams have made positive starts to the new campaign, but the Olympians will be the favorites to claim all three points. In a run stretching back into last season, Jorge Sampaoli’s side is 11 games unbeaten on home soil. Lens has picked up seven points from their three away games this season, but can they continue their fine away form?
