Dstv Premiership is back in action, the youngsters are already showing potential proving why they deserve to be in the starting lineup and why they are promoted by their teams to the first team. The new season commenced on the 4th of August, with the defending Champions Mamelodi Sundowns facing Sekhukhune United away from home.

Over the years, we have seen talented youngsters merging into senior teams, the likes of Mduduzi Shabalala, Samkelo Zwane, and Cassius Mailula who has recently signed for MLS team Toronto FC.

The new season has just begun, going to the 3rd game of the season, and already the youngsters have raised their hands, making it difficult for the coaches as they are fighting for their place in the starting lineup.

In this article we focus on the youngsters to look for in the Dstv Premiership this season.

3:Shandre Campbell (SuperSport United)

Campbell continues where he left off last season in the DStv Diski Challenge with a scintillating performance on his debut against Richards Bay at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on their opener of the new season, putting in a Man of the Match performance in the 2-0 win over the KwaZulu-Natal based outfit. The 18-year-old won the DStv Diski Challenge with SuperSport United last season, also winning the club’s DDC top goalscorer award after netting 16 goals.

2: Jaedin Rhodes (Cape Town City)

Rhodes has made it difficult for coach Eric Tinkler to make his final squad selection. The 20-year-old made a great impression last season, featured 18 times under head coach Eric Tinkler, and contributed two assists in what is deemed to be his breakthrough season at the club. After winning the club’s Young Player of the Season, Cape Town City boss John Comitis decided to reward the youngster with a new contract. This season, the prolific winger has featured in all 3 matches, including the MTN8 fixture against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday.

1: Relebohile Mofokeng (Orlando Pirates)

Relebohile Mofokeng formerly known as Ratomo made his professional debut last season for Orlando Pirates but has since switched his surname to Mofokeng. The skillful youngster featured in all their opening games of the 2023/24 season, including the MTN8 quarterfinal against Sekhukhune United at Orlando Stadium. Mofokeng has proven his talent and absorbed the pressure of playing for a big team like Orlando Pirates, winning the hearts of The Sea Robbers fans.
