Bet Central’s Out of Contract XI

This month will see the end of contracts of numerous players across European football. In these uncertain times, clubs and payers have to make tough and maybe awkward decisions about keeping players on in this elongated season.

There will be more clarity in the next fortnight or so but we’ve created a list of a team of out of contract players.

GK – Joe Hart 

Once the Manchester City number one, Joe Hart’s career has taken a real dip since Pep Guardiola banished him from his City squad with Hart not fitting into the Spanish manager’s style of play. However, Hart is experienced and could certainly add value either as astart or backup.

RB – Thomas Meunier 

Meunierreallt shot to prominence at the Fifa Wolrd Cup 2018nin Russia with his swashbuckling performances for Belgium. He is tall and athletic similar to Branislav Ivanovic in his heyday.

CB – Jan Vertonghen 

Vertonghen has been one of the most consistent Premier League defenders for years now and his SPurs career might be coming to an end at the age of 33. The experienced defender has some years left and his quality and experienced would be welcomed at most clubs.

CB – Thiago Silva 

35 and on megabucks at PSG, it’s hard to see where the experienced Brazilian will land up considering not many can afford his staggering wages. He most probably will extend at PSG but he remains one of the best defenders in the game.

LB – Layvin Kurzawa 

Kurzawa has great value as a free transfer, he has all the ingredients necessary of a quality fullback but just needs the right club to feel settled, at 27 he is in his prime.

CDM – David Luiz 

The Brazilian divides opinion but his technical quality cannot be questioned. We’ve selected him as a defensive midfielder but he also has the ability to play centre-back. At 33, there is still some legs left in this enigmatic players body.

CM – David Silva 

A Manchester City legend and one of the finest foreign players in the Premier League. The silky Silva has consistently produced magic for City and has been a fixture in their starting lineups through the clubs most successful period. His game is not about pace or energy so lots of value.

CM – Adam Lallana 

His time at Liverpool as been hampered by injuries but Lallana is a unique English player. His ‘Cruyff turns’ are majestic and his ability to use both feet makes him an asset in tight spaces. At 32, he still has enough energy in the tank to make a real impact at his next club.

LW – Willian  

Willian has an eye for the exceptional and always seems to have the ability to produce magic. however, some fans believe he could be a world-beater if he was more consistent. that being said, he has been a solid signing for Chelsea and 31 there is still so much he can offer a club.

RW – Jose Callejon

After his time at Real Madrid, Callejon made an impact at Napoli in Italian football. A good winger with great technical quality and an eye for goal. He still offers so much quality going forward and has a great pedigree having played for some of the biggest clubs in the European game.

ST – Edinson Cavani 

He might be 33 but Cavani is still a world-class striker and that will never subside. His big wages at PSG might prove to be a stumbling block for any suitors but rumours say he might be off to Atletico Madrid.
