West Ham v Tottenham – Preview, Predictions and Best Bets

West Ham host Tottenham in the English Premier League on Tuesday.

West Ham v Tottenham

West Ham host Tottenham Spurs’ matches tend to have plenty of goals whilst the Hammers have seen 37 goals in their last nine fixtures in all competitions. West Ham won the reverse fixture 2-1 away from home in December.

West Ham Form

David Moyes’ side are very inconsistent. A streak of nine wins in 12 was followed by an eight-match winless run which included a 6-0 home loss to Arsenal. With some pressure mounting on the coach, they won successive league matches: 4-2 at home to Brentford and 3-1 at Everton.

They’re now winless in three league fixtures around a 5-1 aggregate win over Freiburg in the Europa League. They lost 1-0 in Germany before winning 5-0 at home. That big victory preceded a 1-1 home draw vs Aston Vila and a 4-3 loss at Newcastle on Saturday. West Ham led 3-1 with 76 minutes on the clock.

West Ham Team News

Alphonse Areola was subbed at half-time against Newcastle so Lukasz Fabianski could start. Edson Alvarez is suspended but Kalvin Phillips may still only be on the bench.

Tomas Soucek, Danny Ings, and Pablo Fornals are others who are hoping to sNayef Aguerd is doubtful in defence. Michail Antonio is set to start up front and Lucas Paqueta should shake off a knock to take his spot in the starting XI.art. Ben Johnson and Max Cornet are two fringe players who may get very rare opportunities in the starting XI.

West Ham Motivation

Moyes’ side have beaten Tottenham, Chelsea, and Arsenal this season by sitting back and ceding possession.

They will allow Spurs to have the ball and then look to hit their pacey front four on the counter-attack.

Tottenham Form

Spurs have been in good league form with nine wins in 13 EPL fixtures. After scoring late to beat Brighton, they showed they’re capable of blips with a 2-1 home loss to Wolves. A 3-1 home win over Crystal Palace saw them score three times in the final 20 minutes.

A resounding 4-0 away win at Aston Villa boosted their hopes of Champions League qualification before a shock 3-0 defeat at Fulham to highlight their defensive fragility. On Saturday, they needed an 86th-minute winner to beat Luton 2-1 at home in a deserved victory (2.99 xG).

Tottenham Team News

Spurs are only missing three fringe players due to injury winger Manor Solomon, goalkeeper Fraser Forster and wingback Ryan Sessegnon. The squad is packed with options so Ange Postecoglou may consider some rotation.

Brennan Johnson and Richarlison are options to freshen up the front three whilst Giovani Lo Celso could come into central midfield. Micky van de Ven will hope to be recalled in defence.

Tottenham Motivation

Spurs will play their usual open, attacking game in this one. They will go all out to win and will see a draw as a poor result.

With plenty of good bench options, Tottenham can score late goals and can change the game with impact subs.

Key Stats

West Ham have won just 2 of their last 11 EPL matches.

West Ham have lost just once in 10 home league matches (four wins, 5 draws)

West Ham’s last 9 fixtures have seen 37 goals (19 conceded, 18 scored)

Tottenham have seen over 2.5 goals scored in their last 12 EPL matches games.

Tottenham have conceded in 19 of their last 22 matches (36 goals conceded)

Spurs have seen Both Teams Score Yes in 10 of their last 12 EPL matches (26 scored, 20 conceded

Verdict

All of the stats point to goals in this match. If Moyes plays four attackers, his defence will be exposed. I am backing plenty of action to enjoy.
