Premier League Stat Pack – Gameweek 29 Midweek

Wednesday 17 June

19:00 – Aston Villa  v Sheffield United

Aston Villa are looking to end a 4-match losing run, in all 4 matches they trailed at HT. Villa have a their poor league record against top 10 teams (W1, D2, L11). They conceded 2+ goals in all but 1 of those matches.

Sheffield United are unbeaten in 4 matches (W3, D1) in what has been an impressive season thus far. Despite this, they have failed to score over 2.5 goals in any of their previous 15 matches, and their average of 1.07 goals scored per game is one of the division’s lowest. However, only league leaders Liverpool can better their average of 0.89 goals conceded per game.

21:15 -Manchester City  v Arsenal

The Premier League (PL) restart sees a blockbuster as Manchester City take on Arsenal, and recent history shows this to be a pleasant fixture for this game’s hosts. City have won six straight competitive H2Hs against the ‘Gunners’, covering a -1.5 handicap each time, and scoring precisely three goals in five of those six.

City have also won four of their last five PL home matches (D1), and have netted an average of 2.54 goals per PL home game this season. Yet whilst their last five league matches (all venues) before the hiatus averaged just 1.6 total goals – and none saw both teams score – a league-high 50% of City’s PL fixtures have actually featured at least four goals.

Arsenal trail a Champions League spot by eight points, but travel unbeaten in eight PL matches (W4, D4). However decisive results have eluded them at times, with draw kings Arsenal witnessing a league-high 46.43% of their PL matches end in stalemate. Although notably, just three of their 13 draws have been level at half-time.

In fact, they’ve drawn five straight away league games, and have not won an away PL H2H since 2015 (D1, L3). First halves haven’t been kind to them either, with Arsenal behind at half-time in 53.85% of their PL away matches this term.
