Saturday

Kaizer Chiefs (3rd) v Golden Arrows (11th)

Chiefs have played just one home game all season, and they were unceremoniously dumped out of the Nedbank Cup by a side threatened with relegation. They have somewhat recovered since then, with back-to-back wins against Baroka and Pirates. They host an Arrows side who, while not being exceptional on the road, haven’t lost an away game since October (D2 L5 in between). That said, they only have 5 clean sheets all campaign – only TS Galaxy (4) are worse in that department.

13 – Both teams have scored 13 times in matches involving Arrows, a league-high.

TS Galaxy (15th) v Supersport Utd (7th)

Supersport fans may be questioning themselves how their side managed to give away a 2-0 lead to lose during the week against Pirates. It was the first time since 2014 (v Free State Stars) that this happened, and only the 3rd time in 25 years (also December 1998 v QwaQwa Stars). There will be no time to lick wounds, however, as they’re on the road again to relegation-threatened TS Galaxy.

6 – SuperSport have five away clean sheets this season, a record only bettered by Sundowns (7).

At 2.80/1, the odds on that away clean sheet may be a winner.

Cape Town City (6th) v Marumo Gallants (10th)

The reverse fixture between these sides ended 0-0, and if that is anything to go by, this could be another low-scoring tie. City’s defence has been miserly in 2022, with three clean sheets in four league games helping them to 8 points. On the other hand, Gallants remain unbeaten in seven matches (all comps) and could pose a serious danger. That said, City are heavy favourites to win the game, with Gallants as long as 5/1 to get three points.

2022 – No team has won more points in 2022 than Gallants (10), with City just a point behind (9).

Sunday

Stellenbosch (5th) v Royal AM (2nd)

Winless in the league since the New Year, Stellenbosch doesn’t seem to have the necessary quality to sustain their push for 2nd in the league. Their form this year has been abysmal – they’re one of just two teams yet to win since the turn of the year (also AmaZulu). One home clean sheet since November will also be the source of a headache for Barker & co. In contrast, Royal AM are unbeaten this year, keeping clean sheets in each of their last three games.

1 – Royal have won just one of their last eight matches away from home all season (L3 D4).
