1: Itumeleng Khune – Kaizer Chiefs

Itu graduated from Kaizer Chiefs youth development in 2004, however, he made his debut in the first team in 2007 against Jomo Cosmos.

His immediate contribution to the club was of note, with the best defensive record in the league only conceding 19 goals in 30 matches.

Over the years Khune has been linked with different clubs, even overseas teams were keen for Mzansi’s number one signature. Itumeleng Khune has been with Kaizer Chiefs for over 15 years now.

2: Ronwen Williams – Supersport United

The Supersport United and Bafana Bafana captain Joined Matsantsantsa’s first team in 2010 at the age of 18 years old. He has played over 200 games for the club, winning the Nedbank Cup back-to-back in 2015 and 2016 and the MTN 8 in 2017.

He was rumoured to move to Orlando Pirates in June of 2021, but the 30-year-old is still doing the business for the Tshwane side.

3: Happy Jele – Orlando Pirates

Happy Jele has the most caps for Orlando Pirates in the Buccaneer’s current squad, having played over 400 games for the club since he joined in 2006.

He has won the league twice in the 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 seasons, Nedbank Cup in 2011 and 2004, Telkom Knockout also in 2011, and the MTN 8 in 2011 and 2020.

At the age of 35, he’s still going strong for the Buccaneers and wears that armband with pride.

4: Kaizer Motaung Junior – Kaizer Chiefs

Kaizer Junior joined Kaizer Chiefs back in 2003 from a German side, 1860 Munich ii.

He scored his first goal against Wits University in 2004, he was Kaizer Chief’s top goalscorer in the 2006/2007 season netting 12 goals and was also the club’s player of the season in the same year.

He retired in 2014 with over 120 games under his belt for Amakhosi, winning the league twice in the 2012/2013 and 2014/2015 seasons. In July 2021, he was appointed as a sporting director of the club.

5: Bamuza Sono – Jomo Cosmos

Bamuza is the son of the legendary Jomo Sono. He joined his father’s team back in 1999 playing over 300 games for Ezenkosi. There were abroad moves associated with Bamuza Sono, one of the countries he went to was Israel but he didn’t stay long and came back to Jomo Cosmos.

Bamuza Sono retired in 2016 and went to occupy the team manager role in the club.
