PSL Predictions – Matchday 7
PSL fans can brace themselves for seven top-flight fixtures this weekend, with Mamelodi Sundowns and Bidvest Wits sitting out due to continental action.
This affords early leaders Kaizer Chiefs a chance to stamp their authority on the title race. Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates and Cape Town City are fighting to stay in the hunt.
As usual, BET Central has your predictions and betting tips ahead of PSL Matchday 7.
Two clubs in tight spots go head to head in what appears to be a relegation six-pointer at the Harry Gwala Stadium.
Maritzburg have only scored two goals all season and Chippa three, so it is unlikely that we will see many in this game.
A scoreless draw is the tip with value on under 1.5 goals at 1.80.
Prediction: 0-0
Suggested BET:
Golden Arrows are out to maintain their solid home record this season as they host Stellenbosch at the Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.
Stellies have put in some valiant performances recently but have yet to claim their first win in the top flight.
Although striker Waseem Isaacs is in incredible form with three goals in his last two games, Stellies are still struggling to kill off matches. Abafana Bes’thende are tipped to pile more misery on the team from the Cape Winelands.
Prediction: Golden Arrows Win 2-1
Suggested BET:
Cape Town City often make life difficult for Orlando Pirates when the Buccaneers hit Cape shores, but Benni McCarthy’s men tend to struggle on the road. A trip to his old hunting ground, Orlando Stadium, will, therefore, be a tough task.
Pirates and City are two of the league’s strongest sides on paper, but both have got the season off to poor starts. A fierce contest for the three points is thus expected.
Ultimately, home advantage is tipped to see the Sea Robbers through.
Prediction: Orlando Pirates Win 2-1
Suggested BET:
Amakhosi rode their luck in the 2-0 away win over AmaZulu. They are now back on home soil for a match against Baroka at FNB Stadium.
After a trying four years, it seems Chiefs’ luck is finally in. They may not be playing scintillating football, but they sit top of the league nevertheless.
Funnily enough, Ernst Middendorp’s men have nine points from three matches on the road and only four from three at home. However, they should be too strong for ninth-placed Baroka nevertheless.
Prediction: Kaizer Chiefs Win 2-1
Suggested BET:
SuperSport United were brought crashing down to earth by Polokwane City in the league after their MTN8 final qualification at the expense of Mamelodi Sundowns. They look to return to winning ways against whipping boys AmaZulu in Saturday’s league match at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Usuthu lost 2-0 to Kaizer Chiefs after seeing two goals questionably disallowed for offside. They will be smarting and determined to bounce back under new coach Jozef Vukušič.
However, Matsatsantsa’s form in recent weeks has been incredible and AmaZulu’s luck appears to be out. SuperSport United are backed to clinch this one on home soil.
Prediction: SuperSport United Win 2-1
Suggested BET:
Black Leopards are in turmoil at the moment following the departure of coach Lionel Soccoia. Luc Eymael is reportedly in contention for the hot seat, but they have yet to make a permanent appointment at the time of writing.
Nevertheless, Lidoda Duvha can be reasonably pleased with their initial response to the chaos, a 2-2 draw to Stellenbosch. They will look to follow that up with a victory over Bloem Celtic in Thohoyandou.
Leopards’ home turf is always a tough one to visit and Bloem Celtic need to be wary. They have got the season off to an inconsistent start and Sunday’s fixture is a tough match to call.
Phunya Sele Sele are the better team on paper, but the 12th man in the stands should cancel that out and earn a point for Black Leopards.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw
Suggested BET:
In a repeat of the MTN8 semi-final, the Lions of the North take on Rise and Shine at Tembisa’s Makhulong Stadium on Sunday.
Polokwane City are in fine league form at the moment but are tipped to suffer a blemish against a Highlands Park side which is very much on a high.
Owen da Gama’s men gained a psychological edge when they knocked Polokwane City out of the MTN8 and home advantage should see them clinch all three points.
Prediction: Highlands Park Win 1-0
