Spreadex Sports previews the upcoming UEFA Champions League fixture between Bayern Munich and Chelsea in Match Week 1 of the Group League Phase of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League season.
When is Bayern Munich v Chelsea? Wednesday, September 17th 2025.
What time is kick-off for Bayern Munich v Chelsea?8pm, UK time.
Where is Bayern Munich v Chelsea being played? Allianz Arena, Munich, Germany.
How can I watch Bayern Munich v Chelsea? Live on TNT Sports 2 from 8pm.
Ahead of this tie, both sides have enjoyed unbeaten starts in their respective leagues. German champions Bayern have had a perfect domestic start to their season with three wins from three so far, while Chelsea have also had a strong opening, perhaps disappointed with some missed opportunities, with two wins and two draws from their opening three fixtures. Will either side suffer their first defeat of the season here?
BAYERN’S EUROPEAN CAMPAIGN 2024/25
Bayern's exploits in the 2024/25 campaign were far from ideal and not without hitches as they ended with a ledger of five wins and three defeats in the league group phase. They then overcame German rivals Bayer Leverkusen in the Round of 16 before falling to eventual finalists Inter in the quarter-finals, which at the time was a disappointing end after Bayern were seen as one of the competition favourites.
CHELSEA’S EUROPEAN CAMPAIGN 2024/25
Meanwhile, the Blues' European adventure in 2024/25 saw them win silverware in the third-tier UEFA Conference League with a win over Real Betis in the final, and followed that up with a hugely impressive victory over Champions League winners PSG in the UEFA Super Cup.

The Spreadex Sports fixed odds Match Odds betting prices have Bayern as odds-on 8/13 favourites to secure victory at the Allianz Arena while our 2 Up early pay out market, which pays out when a team goes two goals up, have the Bavarians at 4/7.
Chelsea meanwhile are 15/4 underdogs to grab an away win in Germany - and at the ground of their famous 2011/12 Champions League victory over none other than Bayern (16/5 on our 2 Up market), with the draw also at 16/5.
These two sides have only met 7 times in total from their first clash in 2005 - also in the Champions League - and Bayern have secured four wins, including a double in the 2020/21 Champions League with Bayern winning 4-1 at home and 3-0 away. Chelsea's only win (in 90 minutes) came in that first ever meeting, although of course their most consequential meeting ended in a draw before Chelsea won the tie on penalties to lift the famous trophy.
Goals have seemingly been guaranteed though when these two sides meet and there has never been a stalemate. In fact, only one of the seven meetings failed to see both sides find the net. You can back Both Teams to Score once again here at 8/15.

Our football spread betting prices have the Goal Supremacy as Bayern/Chelsea 0.85 - 1.05. This means if Bayern won 4-1 (like their last meeting with the Blues), a 'buy' bet at 1.05 would mean a return of 2.95x your initial stake.
However, if you bought at 1.05 in Bayern's favour and the match ended goalless, you would lose 1.05x your stake. Or, if Chelsea were to grab a 2-0 away win, the market would settle negatively at -2 and a buy at 1.05 would result in a loss of 3.05x your opening stake.
You can calculate various make-ups by using our handy spread betting calculator, found here.
Our spread betting Total Goals line is 3.25 - 3.45. So a 3.45 'buy' bet would need at least four goals to be scored in the match to start turning a profit. Conversely, a 3.25 sell bet would need less than three goals to be scored in the match to turn a profit.
Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit. E.g. a 3.45 'buy' Total Goals bet would lose 3.45x your opening stake if the match ended 0-0, and so on.

Spreadex will have several Price Boosts available nearer to kick-off, so make sure you keep your eyes on the website/app and the match pricing page.
Bayern have been in red-hot scoring form so far this season and their most recent fixture saw them demolish Bundesliga rivals Hamburger SV 5-0, although four of those goals were scored within the first 30 minutes. The Total Goal Minutes in that match settled at just 129, while the pre-match spread on the same market here stands at 161 - 176.
This means if you sold at 161 and the market made up at 129 again, you would win 32x your opening stake. However, if you bought at 176 and the match finished goalless (0 Goal Minutes), the market make-up would be 0 and you would lose 176x your opening stake.
Remember that with spread betting, get the bet wrong and losses can exceed your stake/deposit, so be sure to set your stake size accordingly.
